The Hawaii County Department of Public Works will continue road paving this week on Makaʻala Street near the intersection with Kanoelehua Avenue.

The Hilo-bound lane will be closed Thursday, and no turns will be allowed onto Makaʻala Street.

The Puna-bound lane will be closed Friday, but both turn lanes will remain open.

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. Paving will pause for the holiday season starting Monday, Dec. 23, and resume on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Road paving in the industrial area began in November, and the project includes resurfacing on Holomua, Poʻokela, Makaʻala and Wiwoʻole streets.
